What to expect

A workshop that raises the ceiling on hiring and developing educators.

Most schools invest enormous care in getting hiring right — the hours reading applications, the deliberate search committee conversations, the genuine desire to find someone who will thrive in the community. But the tools we still rely on — resumes, cover letters, unstructured interviews — were never designed to show us what we most need to see. Research tells us they are poor predictors of on-the-job success and quietly reinforce bias.

And the challenge doesn't end at the hire. Once an educator is in the role, meaningful development feedback is rare and often disconnected from the real moments that define the job.

This half-day workshop is designed for school leaders who are ready to raise that ceiling. The first half focuses on selection: surface what you already value, confront where evidence gaps live, and design an enhanced approach using artifacts of impact, style-fit alignment, and simulation-based assessment. The second half shifts to development: step into AI-powered leadership simulations, experience what targeted, evidence-based feedback actually feels like, and explore how the same tools that improve hiring can transform how schools grow leaders.

You'll walk away with

Firsthand experience of AI-powered leadership simulations

Step into the scenarios candidates respond to. See what evidence-based feedback actually looks like — not for them, but for you.

A framework for layering evidence into your current hiring process

You won't be asked to start over. You'll learn how to weave artifacts of impact, style-fit alignment, and simulation evidence into the search you already run.

A model for using simulations as an ongoing development tool

The same tools that improve hiring transform how you grow leaders — not just a filter at the front door.

Language and protocols for feedback that develops, not just evaluates

Practical language you can use the Monday after the workshop — with new hires, candidates, and your existing leadership team.

Two halves. One throughline.

Part 1 · 8:30 AM – 10:30 AM

Selection

  • ·Surface what you already value in your hiring process — and where the evidence gaps actually live.
  • ·The science: why unstructured interviews predict ~19% of on-the-job performance, and what predicts at twice that rate.
  • ·Designing an enhanced approach: artifacts of impact, style-fit alignment, simulation-based assessment.
  • ·Wrestling with real trade-offs from your school's current search.

Part 2 · 10:45 AM – 12:30 PM

Development

  • ·Step into AI-powered leadership simulations and experience targeted, evidence-based feedback firsthand.
  • ·How the same tools that improve hiring transform how schools grow leaders.
  • ·Language and protocols for feedback that develops rather than evaluates.
  • ·Leave with a plan shaped by your own school's needs — not a generic playbook.

Hands-on and practice-oriented. Bring a laptop or tablet. Coffee and light refreshments provided; 15-minute break between Part 1 and Part 2.

Rich Boerner

CEO & Founder, TruFit Talent

Rich spent twenty years leading international schools across Asia, South Asia, and Latin America before founding TruFit Talent — a platform that helps schools select, develop, and retain educators using evidence instead of guesswork.

His path was unconventional. He started as a public school teacher and principal in the U.S., then moved into international school leadership, eventually serving as Superintendent of Graded — The American School of São Paulo. There, he launched the Graded Learning Lab and began asking the question that would become TruFit: why do schools still rely on resumes and unstructured interviews to make their most consequential decisions, when every other high-performing profession has moved to evidence-based assessment?

TruFit Talent is his answer — AI-powered behavioral simulations, blind-reviewed artifacts of impact, and style-fit working-style assessments giving schools better evidence at every stage. Partner schools across the EARCOS region, international schools worldwide, and U.S. public districts use the model to reduce bias, compress hiring timelines, and build stronger leadership pipelines.

Rich has presented at AAIE, NAIS Thrive, NEASC, AMISA, the Council of the Great City Schools, and NCERT. His leadership has been recognized with the AAIE Dr. Keith Miller International Innovation Leadership Award.
